Kirkland

Unknown exact location but it was on the west side of Kirkland a bit north of the Cock & Dolphin.

It was a symbol of the east and of optimism, perhaps linked with hopes of a good harvest. The 'Sun in Splendour' was also featured on a livery badge of Edward IV (reigned 1461-1483). The name is said to have been chosen for pubs facing east and receiving the early-morning sun, which this building would seem to have.
