New Inn Yard
The Cumberland Pacquet for August 4th, 1795, gives an account of a corn riot that took place in the yard, when the carrier’s warehouses were broken into and two cart-loads of oatmeal stolen therefrom. These old warehouses marked on Todd’s plan, formed a large square, and were only removed with a disused malt kiln in order to make a building site for the Zion Chapel.
