History
Part of an original large house built on Gillinggate in 1891. The architect was John F Curwen and it was built for F W Crewdson (former owner of Kendal Bank) on a greenfield site as part of the development of the new road. Subsequently it was owned by the Moser family and later the Pennington's.
Features
It is the largest house on GIllinggate forming a distinctive part of the street scene. It is built in the arts and crafts style with a large butressed plinth wall facing the road which houses the basement and first. The next two floors are timber framed, finished in hung tiles or dashed render floor. The whole is topped and a tower. It has diagonal leaded light windows and cast iron rain ware, including hoppers and downspouts.
