There was also a [[Hanratty's Fish and Chip Shop]] on [[Highgate]]. The yard was leased to [[Pat Wilson]] who ran it with [[Clive Wilson]] (son) and [[Steven Wilson]] (nephew?) and opposite the scrap yard on Captain French Lane was a rag dealers run by the same family. [[Frankie Cunningham]] worked in the rag shop. [[Steven Wilson]] went on to run the scrapyard on [[Beezon Road]]. There was also a plat hire business associated with this use.

The Hanratty family also opened a scrap business in Darlington. Owen Hanratty married Mary McGuinness (born 1877) in the area of in Cloughinnea, between Dromantee and Forkhill, Northern Ireland, later moving to Kendal.

A John Hanratty also owned a fish and chip shop and scrap yard in Kendal one of his nephews, Peter Hanratty, owned the scrap yard in Whitehaven.
